Castle Hill Childcare Centre

In 2022 Hornsby Shire Council gave DA Consent for the proposed Childcare Centre designed by Scott Miner. The two storey building with basement car parking will accommodate 56 Children. The depth of the site allowed a two storey building form at the front of the site, with street setbacks responding to neighbouring residential dwellings. At the rear of the site, a single storey pavilion opens onto a central outdoor play area. This site configuration directs sound inwards towards the middle of the property and allows for a dedicated landscaped area at the rear boundary without noise generation. Typical residential type materials have been employed in the design to emphasise the heave masonry base and lighter weatherboard clad first floor. The pitched roofs, broken-down in scale and separated by the lift and stair core, respond to neighbouring residential pitched roofs. The resulting building form aims to compliment its immediate neighbourhood context as it cleverly accommodates the specific spatial needs of its inhabitants.
