Beehive Childcare St Ives

One of the more recent Childcare Centres Scott Miner has worked on was the Beehive Childcare Centre expansion in St Ives. The existing centre consisted of a collection of buildings on a site that had been altered and adapted over the years. However, the large site area presented an opportunity for an increase in capacity. Like a jig-saw puzzle, numerous options were explored with different building configurations and sizes, balancing indoor and outdoor play spaces, carparking requirements, staff, admin and kitchen areas, all while retaining as many existing trees as possible. The bold two storey administration building makes reference to the colours of the Beehive Childcare logo and presents a bright, fun facade to the street.
